Simple and Easy Homemade Pizza
By Jeremiah Freundlich | March 3, 2010
The majority of people will buy their pizza’s or order them from a specialist Pizza place. Sometimes people might overlook the fact that it’s actually really easy to make pizza’s yourself at home using a few simple ingredients.
The base of the pizza is probably the part of making the pizza that you are most worried about. But there is a way to cheat and that is to buy the base yourself. That’s right just buy the base from a supermarket and you will be up and ready to add your toppings in no time.
Once you have the base, add a good helping of tomato puree and smooth it all over the top of the base with a knife. The tomato puree is the first layer onto which everything else is added.
Now you want to put some cheese on your rapidly taking shape pizza. Just slice or grate some cheese onto your base. The type of cheese you use is up to you. Remeber you’re making your own pizza so everything is your decision. That’s the best part about having complete control over your dinner! Just make sure there aren’t too many gaps, unless you don’t want too much cheese.
Get ready to use all your creative skills now and get some toppings on your pizza. If you like meat you could try bacon, beef, or chicken. If you’re vegetarian you could go for any number of vegetables. You could even mix and match meat and vegetables or just go with cheese and tomato.
It’s great fun being creative with your pizza, there are so many ingredients you can use. You can come up with your own creation and give it a name, or you could just eat it! That’s normally the best way!
If you have children, it’s a great way to get them involved in the kitchen and you can teach them a few things about cooking in a fun way. Most children love pizza and the idea that they can put whatever they want on it will really excite them.
Cooking the pizza is easy. Depending on the thickness of the pizza base that you bought, it will take around 15 minutes on a medium heat. That will vary with the pizza, what you have on it, and your oven, but 15 minutes is roughly a good amount of time.
Be careful with your oven and the cooking times. If you are putting chicken or another meat onto the pizza you don’t want it to not be cooked enough so make sure your oven is nice and hot before you start.
