Thanksgiving Dinner Recipes with an Italian twist

    By myarticlenetwork | November 8, 2009

That wonderful time of year is coming around again. The aroma of turkey and apple pie is drifting ever closer, which means it’s time to pick out a menu for Thanksgiving. Why not try something a little different and add some traditional Italian Thanksgiving ideas into the mix.

Turkey, stuffing, potatoes and the ever popular pumpkin pie are traditional foods served at Thanksgiving! With a new Italian twist, why not try a new mixture of pork, Italian thin sliced ham and sweet potato mashers. This easy to make recipe will surely be a hit. This is a great new addition to your Thanksgiving dinner recipes.

At my family Thanksgiving, a classic Caesar salad starts off the night. Instead of this traditional American salad, we tried a new zesty Italian salad with sliced salami. The salad was a huge success and was one of my best Thanksgiving ideas! Having pre-sliced salami helps to make the salad easy to prepare!

In my box of recipes, under my “Italian” section, I came across my penne with spicy sausage recipe. Perfect! This is the dish to serve at this year’s Thankgiving dinner! It has the potential to go with any Thanksgiving meal. Try looking under “Salsiccia Calabrese” or “soppressata” for the spicy sausage.” (Those are the names I had to look for when buying that ingredient.) Your Thanksgiving cooking will never be the same after tasting this golden recipe!

Once you have all the food together, you will need to find a great wine to accompany your new Italian flavors. Although many wines will do the trick, the perfect wine is actually wine salami! Pinot Grigio, Rose and Chianti are your three best options. The wine will really bring out the flavors of your salami, ham and sausage!

Incorporating any of these three dishes can really add an Italian flavor to your traditional Thanksgiving! These Thanksgiving dinner recipes are going to be a sure-fire hit with your family and friends. This Thanksgiving, when you are slicing up the turkey and shoveling spoonfuls of stuffing in your mouth, be sure to save room for your tasty new Italian dishes!
