Unique Fundraising: Revitalize Fundraising Efforts
By Brad Morgan | April 30, 2009
Fundraising is an important task for any non-profit organization.
If you are interested in having some fun while you fundraise then perhaps you should take a look at some creative fundraising ideas to make your business better.
Creative fundraising is something that a lot of people have been doing lately to increase the scope of their business.
Through creative fundraising, it is possible to find new and interesting ways to fund your endeavors. A major benefit is that they tend to be much more fun than traditional methods of fundraising.
People respond better to fundraising proposals when they’re having fun, and when they feel like you are offering them something different and unique. They will be more likely to contribute to your cause if they enjoy your business and its employees.
How does this work in a real non-profit organization? Imagine you are trying to raise funds for an animal shelter.
Maybe you would hold advocacy functions or count on donations from a scattered group of people. Most animal shelters depend on receiving funding in this way.
Is there a more effective way? Could you, as the fundraising chair, figure out a way to interest people in your shelter and open their wallets? What about pet day?
Organize a day for children where they can come to some nice-looking location and have fun with all the pets that the animal shelter takes care of.
Parents will see their children having fun with adorable animals, who are homeless. This reminds them that they should donate money to your shelter so it can continue doing its valuable work. This is just one of many creative fundraising ideas that won’t cost your business much to coordinate. The returns can be wonderful, and your staff is likely to be much more enthusiastic about these types of events.
The options are endless, but here’s one more example. How do you use creative fundraising in a library setting? Schools continually need to raise money, and a library day can help.
This gives people a chance to visit the library and see what everything is about. Library students could have a project assigned to them along the lines of making creative fundraising letters in order to try and get their parents to donate money.
People are always more amenable to opening their wallets when they’ve been fed. You can combine library day with a lunch for even more fun and success.
When considering creative strategies for fundraising, the sky is the limit. The key is to think outside the box and come up with outrageous ideas. If they’re too far out there, you can always modify them to work for your needs. But just thinking in new ways can help you develop creative fundraising ideas that people will actually look forward to.
